LOS ALAMOS — November 2, 2026. A July 28, 2026 California Environmental Quality Act filing describes planned treatment upgrades for the Los Alamos Community Services District wastewater plant.
Why upgrades are needed
The state’s filing says the existing aeration-pond process does not meet effluent water-quality limits that took effect in August 2024. The district plans to replace parts of the process with an activated-sludge membrane bioreactor system.
Other infrastructure in the project
The document includes storm-drain replacement and rehabilitation of wet wells at the Bell Street lift station. These are proposed improvements to wastewater treatment, not evidence of a current household drinking-water alert.
What is confirmed
The filing is a Notice of Exemption concerning environmental review; it does not establish an exact construction completion date or a final project cost. Residents should follow district board agendas and permits for subsequent progress.
